Building the Kiosks

Throughout the workshop, the students expressed the need for the art to be shown in the communities where we did our research. This Saturday we will be exhibiting the prints at the West Bank Music Festival and the following Thursday, August 22 we will be at the annual Edison Open House and BBQ.

Showing art in non-gallery settings is usually pretty difficult. Where will the artwork be hung? How do you get people to come over and look at it? How can you get people to talk to you?

With these questions in mind, I designed kiosks that are portable, give the participant a place to sit, and can be arranged to encourage people to talk to one another.

I have been a big fan of the ROLU and took a bit of inspiration from their chairs.

Here's a couple sketches.

Here's what I came up with.
